Functional Description
3500/20 is a Rack Interface Module designed and developed by Bently Nevada. The primary interface to the 3500 rack is the Rack Interface Module (RIM). It supports a proprietary protocol for configuring the rack and retrieving machinery data. The RIM must be placed in rack slot 1. (next to the power supplies). Compatible Bently Nevada external communications processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX are supported by the RIM. While the RIM performs some functions that are shared by the entire rack, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and has no effect on the overall monitoring system's proper, normal operation. Each rack requires one RIM.

Features
The 3500 System requires a TMR version of the RIM for Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications. The TMR RIM performs "monitor channel comparison" in addition to all of the standard RIM functions. Monitor voting is implemented in the 3500 TMR configuration using the setup specified in the monitor options. The TMR RIM continuously compares the outputs of three (3) redundant monitors using this method. If the TMR RIM detects that the information from one of those monitors is no longer within a predefined percentage of the information from the other two monitors, it will flag the monitor as being in error and record an event in the System Event List.
